Description
An Accounting Intern assists the accounting department with various tasks related to financial recordkeeping, reporting, and analysis. This role provides valuable hands-on experience in accounting practices, helping to support the team while gaining a deeper understanding of accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records, such as balance sheets and income statements.
- Help with data entry into accounting software and spreadsheets.
- Assist in reconciling accounts, including bank statements and credit card transactions.
- Prepare and organize financial documents and reports for review by senior accountants.
- Support in the preparation of tax returns and filings.
- Assist with invoicing and accounts payable/receivable functions.
- Help track expenses, receipts, and other financial documentation.
- Conduct research on accounting policies, financial regulations, and best practices.
- Provide administrative support to the accounting team, including organizing files and managing documents.
- Participate in team meetings to learn about accounting practices and share ideas.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, etc.).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
Education & Experience:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Previous internship or experience in a similar role is a plus, but not required.
- Basic knowledge of accounting software and financial reporting is an advantage.
